Back to the Basics

I must say that I am so, very excited to be starting this adventure of sharing my many tips, treasures and trips to my favorite stores: TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s! It has been challenging to dial myself back to get back to the basics; however, this post is going to cover some basic information about my Maxxinista stores that I feel is necessary for all shoppers, stranger or fan.image

For starters, one may ask, “what are these stores this enthusiastic woman is all excited about?” Glad you asked! Thankfully the answer can be summed up in one sentence: TJX Companies’ TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s are sister off-price retailers of apparel and home fashions. Say what?

I don’t know about you, but even as a fan that summary sentenced was packed! So let’s unpack it. Yes, there are three stores local to my area at least: TJ Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall’s. In my opinion, this fact is both awesome and challenging as similar yet different products can be found at these stores (more to come on this at a later date).

For me, as I consider myself a deal junky, the attention snatcher in that sentence is “off-price”. I don’t know about you, but I personally feel a sense of accomplishment {and dare I say} triumph when I, more often than not, happen upon a deal. That little tidbit is an exciting, basic part of the Maxxinista world, which leads to the question, “how much is ‘off-price’?”

This is answered in TJX Companies’ mission statement as follows: “…our off-price mission is to deliver great value to customers through the combination of brand, fashion, price, and quality. We offer a rapidly changing assortment of brand name and designer merchandise at prices generally 20%-60% below department and specialty store regular prices on comparable merchandise, every day. With our value proposition and exciting treasure-hunt shopping experience, we believe that our demographic reach is among the widest in retail as we attract a broad range of fashion and value conscious customers across many income levels and demographic groups.”

If that doesn’t make you the least bit excited or intrigued, then I hope to tease your brain and inner shopper as well as provoke interest with my future posts!

Random fact: I love lists and appreciate the straightforwardness of a list. So, for those of you who are fellow list lovers, here is a summary list of what we just uncovered about these TJX companies:

  1. Sister stores = similar product
  2. Off-price = product sold 20%-60% below department/specialty store regular prices
  3. Large variety in quality brand name and designer merchandise

Please feel free to share your experiences, deals and tips below because I would love to hear of your adventures as well! Also, if you have any questions or suggestions of what you would like to read about please feels free to share your thoughts as well!
